Map of Merenge.

ㅤ The region of Merenge is, compared to the others in the Pokémon World, one of the most recent ones to start its own urbanization process — resulting in many areas being still completely natural as of now. It is split into four unofficial sub-regions, all still unnamed, on the basis of the influences in architecture as well as the Pokémon one may find on their way. Here's a list of all the main settlements one might visit in Merenge.

░ ⓵ ∴ Sub-Region 1.

With a vaguely gothic feeling to its buildings, the first sub-region greatly values the harmonious coexistence of nature and architecture as it leaves room for plenty of green areas. 

Despite being the second least populated sub-region, it still boasts a few important settlements such as Madeleine City — home to the Madeleine Bakery — and Dariole City, a powerful port city acknowledged and respected in the entire Pokémon World. The Seasonal Protector in charge of this area is the Madeleine City native Grass Type Gym Leader, In Bloom.

ㅤ ▓ ⓵ ˳ ⊹ Madeleine City ┄ In Bloom

Home to the renowned Madeleine Bakery, this city was built on the ruins of the old castle belonging to Merenge's Royal Family. It is also the greenest area of the entire region, perfectly on brand considering the preferred type of the city's Gym Leader.

❶ Expand on Madeleine Bakery, which is owned by IN BLOOM's family. You may also mention the Swirlix Café and briefly describe how different it is compared to its rival activity.

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center, the Royal Family's Castle and PIT-A-PET and HUNNYBEE's houses — along with the Gym, of course.

ㅤ ▓ ⓶ ˳ ⊹ Dariole City ┄ Wild Blue

The northernmost city of the region, Dariole City is fairly peaceful for a settlement of its size.

❶ Expand on the port. WILD BLUE actively works there despite their young age, so I'm interested to see what exactly they do there.

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center and a seafood themed restaurant — along with the Gym, of course.

ㅤ ▓ ⓷ ˳ ⊹ Mohn City ┄ Pit-a-Pet

The PokéMohn City... Haha... Got it? This recurring joke you will hear to no end is quite on brand for Mohn City, the one and only settlement almost exclusively catered to Pokémon rather than humans.

❶ The City must have a Pokémon Fan Club and a Contest Hall. If I were you, I'd also talk a bit about the Fan Club leader in the "RELEVANT NPC" section.

░ ⓶ ∴ Sub Region 2.

The biggest sub-region in Merenge, the most urbanized and populated. It is known for its aggressive approach to art, seeing its main inspiration in various postmodernist styles such as neo-futurism, among the others, which distorts geometrical shapes and plays with lights to create illusions for the visitors to admire.

Its main urban settlements are the Mafino City — also known as Merenge's Venice — Nonnette City and how to forget the capital of fashion, Chouquette City. The latter is also home to the sub-region's Seasonal Protector, Ice Type Gym Leader CHEEKY ICY THANG.

ㅤ ▓ ⓵ ˳ ⊹ Mafino City ┄ Hunnybee

Entirely surrounded by water, Mafino City was originally built with the intention of detaching itself from anything Pokémon related; as ironic as it sounds, it is now the seat of Merenge's Pokémon League building. Most structures make a significant use of glass and minimal metal structures as support.

❶ The city must have a Pokémon Center and the Pokémon League Building.

ㅤ ▓ ⓶ ˳ ⊹ Nonnette City ┄ Heartbeat

Nonnette City, the epitome of this sub-region's idiosyncratic style, takes on the most aggressive approach in terms of architecture with its huge, dark buildings of unusual shapes.

❶ Nonnette City prides itself in being the self-proclaimed preserver of Merenge's culture, but is it actually the truth? Expand on the Regional Museum to reply to this question.

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center, HEARTBEAT's Research Center and the Regional Museum — along with the Gym, of course.

ㅤ ▓ ⓷ ˳ ⊹ Chouquette City ┄ Melting Point

Known in the entire region as the capital of fashion, Chouquette City is located on top of Merenge's highest mountain, standing as high as its leader's pride. Aside from its stylish exterior, the city is also an important center for extinct Pokémon species, competing with Nonnette City to be recognized as the ultimate cultural city of the region.

❶ The city must have a Pokémon Center, CHEEKY ICY THANG's Fashion Boutique, a department store and the Fossil Restoration Center — along with the Gym, of course.

░ ⓷ ∴ Sub Region 3.

This sub-region takes on an eclectic mix of classical, modernist and contemporary architecture relatively similar to the caprom style in former USSR countries: although aimed at exhalting the individuality of the few urban settlements of the area, the poor quality of the materials used makes its decay all the more evident.

The least populated and urbanized sub-region of Merenge, the only two urban settlements are Tuile City and Griotte Town, leaving plenty of space for desert areas and unfinished construction sites. The Seasonal Protector is the Tuile City-based Poison Type Gym Leader, SWEET JUICE.

ㅤ ▓ ⓵ ˳ ⊹ Tuile City ┄ Sweet Juice

Tuile City is closer to being an abandoned illegal dump rather than a city in the literal sense of the word: more than half is currently reduced to an unfinished construction site — the perfect place for Trubbish and Garbodor to roam freely, leaving their stench all over the streets; despite this, Tuile City inhabitants seem to be rather fond of their leader, much to everyone else's confusion.

❶ How did Tuile City reduce itself to this state of putrefaction? Was it always like this, or did things change in some way because of SWEET JUICE?

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center, SWEET JUICE's perfumery and an unfinished construction site — along with the Gym, of course.

ㅤ ▓ ⓶ ˳ ⊹ Griotte Town ┄ Hold on Tight

The one and only small town to have its own Gym, Griotte Town is home to Merenge's top idol, HOLD ON TIGHT; knowing this, most people expect it to be an incredible place, but there's nothing interesting to see aside from HOLD ON TIGHT's family farm and the graveyard... And a temple too, but it's better if we don't talk about it.

❶ The town must have a graveyard and a Pokémon farm — along with the Gym, of course.

░ ⓸ ∴ Sub Region 4.

Eccentric but not overly pretentious, the final sub-region draws inspiration from novelty architecture, making sure its buildings are crafted with both functionality and creativity in mind.

Although there are also a few minor settlements, the major cities are Marjolaine City — the most populated in the entirety of Merenge — and Clementine City, the major transportation center of the region as a whole. The Seasonal Protector in charge of this area is Marjolaine City's Fire Type Gym Leader, FIRE IN THE BELLY.

Marjolaine City, the city of all possibilities! With all its attractions, it is unsurprising it can boast the status of Merenge's most populated settlement. Just be careful not to get lured into its most dangerous district... 

❶ How was Marjolaine City before FIRE IN THE BELLY became the Gym Leader? Was it always this big and eccentric?

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center, the Game Corner, the Marjolaine TV Headquarters and a department store — along with the Gym, of course.

Clementine City prides itself in being the center of Merenge's telecommunications and transportation service, but it comes at the cost of being an easy target to the infamous TEAM BRIDIE.

❶ How does Clementine City deal with TEAM BRIDIE? For TRIP ADVISOR in particular, what is their relationship with this organization?

❷ The city must have a Pokémon Center, an airport, the TEAM BRIDIE hideout, the Clementine Radio Tower and a train station — along with the Gym, of course.

　 𝒊. How do we choose the character's names?

Let's use one of my favorite examples, Virbank's Gym Leader Roxie:

1. English, Portuguese name: Roxie (from rock + toxic, two of her main characteristics combined into an existent name);

2. Korean, Japanese, Chinese name: Bomika, Homika or Huomijia (from Strychnos nux-vomica, a poisonous plant; it reflects her preferred type; names with the same origin but different results are also seen in French with Strykna, German with Mica etc.);

3. Italian name: Velia (from the Italian word for poison, veleno);

4. Spanish name: Hiedra (from the Spanish word for poison ivy).

As you can see, her names all refer to either her type or the main traits she's known for, which is being a rock musician. You may do something similar with your OC as well!

　 𝒊𝒊. Can we submit joint forms?

As already stated in the RULES and SLOTS chapter, yes! However, do note I reserve all rights not to accept all forms submitted together and that I will ask you to sort out details that do not match with the other slots, so don't make your friends' forms too invasive in your own or that'll lower your chances to get in.

This is not to imply there are people at insanely different skill levels that submit forms together— if anything I think it's almost impossible for that to happen — but it's absolutely possible for someone else to understand the slot better and submit something closer to what fits my vision, so be understanding! I also don't want to accept forms solely on the basis of them being already connected, as I find creating the dynamics on the way much more interesting instead.

　 𝒊𝒊𝒊. Can I password lock my form?

I would prefer not out of fairness for those who don't, but even I had to resort to that due to recent events so go ahead! Don't send a riddle to get me to guess the password itself, though...

　 𝒊𝒗. Can I choose a Pokémon that has my trainer's type as its secondary rather than its primary?

Yes, of course! I hinted at it by forcing Trip Advisor appliers to have a Pelipper in their team, but it's better to make things clear; I also updated the form for this reason.

　 𝒗. Do you allow Pokémon coming from newer regions?

Due to my starter pack for the fangame being updated up to Alola (originally only up to Unova), you may not use Pokémon introduced past Generation VII.

　 𝒗𝒊. What will be the OC's primary name?

Their international one! Since I accidentally used the Korean ones here without giving it much thought I stuck with them, but from the character intros onwards I will use the international names instead. Make sure you actually like their international name for this reason...
